一、as用做介詞，與一些動(dòng)詞搭配

As常用再一些固定搭配中，比如define…as…，view…as…, see…as…, use…as…, regard…as…, envision…as.., think of…as…, refer to…as…, classify…as…

例如06年翻譯中討論的一句話：

I shall define him as an individual who has elected as his primary duty and pleasure in life the activity of thinking in Socratic way about moral problems.

在這里存在了兩個(gè)as，也同時(shí)也存在兩種結(jié)構(gòu)define…as…和elected as. 第一個(gè)很好判斷，是典型的as作為介詞，翻譯成“作為”，而后者乍看上去并不太好理解，因?yàn)榻Y(jié)構(gòu)發(fā)生了一定調(diào)整，elect該詞后真正的賓語(yǔ)是the activity of thinking in Socratic way about moral problems,因頭重腳輕，發(fā)生了位置的移動(dòng)。

第二，as有時(shí)單獨(dú)作用，譯為“作為”，例如常用的as a student，as a leader of the department等。

二、As用作副詞

在as…as結(jié)構(gòu)中，第一個(gè)as是副詞，其后常接形容詞或另外的副詞，第二個(gè)as則是連詞。

99翻譯中一句經(jīng)典的話：While there are almost as many definitions of history as there are historians, modern practice most closely conforms to one that sees history as the attempt to recreate and explain the significant events of the past.

在這里中就包含一個(gè)as…as結(jié)構(gòu)，第一個(gè)as即為副詞，修飾形容詞many,而第二個(gè)句中是就是比較狀語(yǔ)從句的連詞。

三、As用作連詞

As用作連詞，絕大多數(shù)情況是引導(dǎo)一系列的狀語(yǔ)從句。

1、引導(dǎo)時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)從句

As the sun rises from the foothill of Mountain Song, thousands of marital artists are kicking, punching and spinning their swords and spears in union at the open parade ground.

當(dāng)太陽(yáng)從嵩山腳下升起的時(shí)候，成千上萬(wàn)的武術(shù)家在開(kāi)放的練兵場(chǎng)中拳打腳踢，整齊劃一地?fù)]舞著矛與劍。

2、引導(dǎo)原因狀語(yǔ)從句

04年翻譯We are obliged to them because some of these languages have since vanished, as the peoples who spoke them died out or became assimilated and lost their native language.

在該句中存在兩個(gè)原因狀語(yǔ)從句，一個(gè)是由because引導(dǎo)，另一個(gè)則是as引導(dǎo)，解釋some of these languages have since vanished的原因。

3、引導(dǎo)方式狀語(yǔ)從句

I hope all the precautions against air pollution, as suggested by the local government, will be seriously considered there.

方式狀語(yǔ)從句中，as 后省略了主謂結(jié)構(gòu)it is, as 的含義則為“正如，正像”。

4、引導(dǎo)讓步狀語(yǔ)從句

作文模板中的經(jīng)典模板句Simple as it is, what the picture conveys to us is thought-provoking. 謹(jǐn)記as只有在引導(dǎo)狀語(yǔ)從句中要倒裝，意義和though類(lèi)似。
